Annual Report 2022-2023

Prayatna Samiti is a Non-Government Organization working since 1989, committed to the socioeconomic development of poor and vulnerable rural communities of Udaipur and Salumbar districts located in Southern region of Rajasthan state of India subcontinent. The cornerstone of Prayatna Samiti’s work is its faith in the capacity of rural communities to work for their own welfare. It believes in the collective strength of communities to achieve a just society, free of exploitative forces.

Annual Report 2017-2018

Promote self-empowerment and leadership abilities among deprived sections of rural communities. We believe that all people have ability and the right to provide for themselves and contribute to a healthy, sustainable economy. Our efforts are concentrated on developing institutional structures; management capacity and leadership abilities in these people so that they can achieve social justice and equality of their own.

Annual Report 2016-2017

With the aim to mobilize rural community toward natural resource management and its mangement Prayatna Samiti this year focused on stregthening local ecosystems in 50 villages of Girwa, Vallabhnagar, Lasadiya, Salumber and Jhalara blocks of Udaipur. The institutional approach was followed to involve people in self management of forests, land resources, water bodies, animals and crops. To deal with the problem of land degradation surveys were carried out to demarcate the needs of land treatment. Local institutions village watershed communities and Self Help Groups came forward to implement and monitor the progress of pastureland development. Forest management was the main issue of concern. The organization faciliated local institution to take active role in implementation of Forest Right Act. To ensure food security and land and livelihood management surveys were carried out for need identification and familiarize government schemes among people. Trainings were organised to impart skills to people to practice improved agriculture.

Annual Report 2015-2016

Prayatna Samiti this year made interventions in watershed area and tribal dominant regions. In the effort 50 villages of 5 blocks (Girwa, Vallabhnagar, Kurabad, Bhinder, and Salumbar) of Udaipur district benefited from the activities. The watershed development was promoted in 10 villages through facilitating local institutions – Village Watershed Committee, Self Help Groups and Farmer Field Schools. The development took place in the sectors of pastureland development, agriculture, and animal husbandry. Soil and Water Conservation, plantation, enhancing soil fertility and feed management were the critical areas with climate change taken as cross-cutting issue. In the direction of securing human rights women and child rights were taken as the areas of concern. With special focus on gender equity and nutrition women were sensitized on their rights related to land and employment and the society was urged to abolish gender discrimination and female feticide.

Annual Report 2014-2015

In year 2014 – 15 Prayatna Samiti focused on watershed treatment for enriching soil cover and strengthening climate change adaptation practices in the private and government pastures along with capacity building of marginalized farmers for enhancement of their livelihoods. The organisation along with communities, this year, documented the Traditional Knowledge (TK) based practices which are important to conserve the biodiversity and associated ecosystem of a place thereby reviving the traditional conservation practices and enhancing the livelihoods and health. Facilitating tribal communities dwelling in remote areas of Udaipur to achieve their land and social rights was also the focal area of the organisation. In this way holistic development of people addressing land revival, livelihoods, biodiversity conservation, and social rights was achieved.

Annual Report 2011-2012

In year 2011-12 Prayatna Samiti touched the heights of water level enhancement and accessing tribal rights to the target people. Apart from this considerable achievement made in the fields of livelihood enhancement, facilitating government flagship schemes, institutional building and women empowerment. An average mark of 1.13 m of water reported rising in a year in Sawna watershed. The extra mass of 0.72 ha of pasture land developed with the fodder production from 20 ha in Ramela village with the increase of 216 quintals from 108 quintals. An average income of Rs 1,500 of farmers is been raised by practising improved varieties of crops and vegetables. Entrepreneurship on vegetable cultivation and moong pulse is developed as an innovative step towards skill development. Awareness, leadership, empowerment is raised to new standards as SHGs amalgamated with Kunwa Pariva in Rawatpura watershed. Farmers are benefitted with pipelines as the non irrigated land of 0.38 ha is converted into irrigated land in Sawna region. Pheela panchayat micro plan developed under NREGS based project which involved villagers to work on water conservation-related activities.
